Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations against Passchendaele Ridge on 12th, 13th and 14th October 1917. After the line had been consolidated, Rifleman Hennessey, under very heavy machine gun fire, without regard for himself and with conspicuous bravery, rescued a wounded man who was drowning in a shell hole, and carried him to a position of saftey.'
