Military Medal 'For great gallantry and devotion to duty. He acted as a platoon runner when his platoon was operating as a fighting patrol, on the night of the 21/22nd June. He made several journeys between sections for his platoon Commander, while heavy fighting was proceeding and displayed great dash and courage, himself taking a hand in the active fighting. He invariably delivered all messages.'
