Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field on 4th November 1918, east of Le Quesnoy. This man acted as Company runner throughout the operation on this date and was instrumental in keeping his Company Commander in close touch with all platoons. He delivered all messages promptly and at times under heavy shell fire, and through difficult country still partly occupied by the enemy. He worked tirelessly during the whole day, and carried out his duties with keenness and enthusiasm.'
