Military Medal 'For very gallant work as a Runner throughout the operations around Bapaume and near Gouzeaucourt during August and September 1918. During the operatios near Gouzeaucourt on the 9th and 12th September he continually passed through the heaviest fire with messages and four times pased through the enemy barrage of gas and H.E. Seldom has greater courage and devotionto duty been seen than that displayed by this soldier under the most exhausting circumstances.'
