War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 12 April 1915. Admitted to Fleet Sweeper 'Clacton', 29 July 1915 (gastro-enteritis), and transferred to HS 'Neuralia'; admitted to NZ General Hospital, Abbassia, 4 August 1915 (dysentery); transferred to England, 18 August 1915, and admitted to St George Hospital, Stamford Street, London, 30 August 1915; discharged to NZ Base Depot, Grey Towers, 27 January 1916. Found guilty, 5 February 1916, of creating a nuisance in Camp: awarded 14 days' confined to barracks. Returned to Egypt, and rejoined Bn, Ismailia, 1 March 1916. Embarked to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 6 April 1916.
