Wounded in action (gun shot wound, back), and admitted to HS 'Braemar Castle', 9 May 1915; transferred to 1st Australian General Hospital, Cairo, 12 May 1915. Embarked Alexandria to rejoin unit at Gallipoli, 18 October 1915; rejoined unit, Lemnos, 28 October 1915. Disembarked Alexandria, 27 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Embarked Egypt to join the British Expeditionsary Force, France, 6 April 1916. Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 9 February 1917 (haemorrhage of lung); transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 10 February 1917; to No 3 Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, 13 February 1917; to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 18 February 1917; to Base Depot, Etaples, 26 February 1917.
