Military Medal 'Laying and maintenance of Div. Signal During period 14th September to 1st October, Lines were laid up to front line trench on the 14th in anticipation of the advance on the 15th and were carried forward close behind the infantry. Sergt Harty's coolness and cheerfulness under fire during this period were contagious. He and his party averaged about 19 hours work per day for the earlier part of this period.'
