Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty whilst in command of a Front Line Post in the Judge Sector on 2nd February, 1918. A party of about 20 of the enemy, attempting to raid our trenches, succeeded in rushing one of our listening posts and in wounding all four men in the post. The enemy then bombed our front line and opened fire with revolvers. Corporal Hart, by prompt and vigorous action, brought the fire of his section to bear on the enemy, killing three and driving off the remainder. Under cover of our fire, he ran forward, bombed the enemy, and prevented the raiders obtaining any identification from the wounded men in the listening post.'
