Detached to XV Corps Gas School, in the field, 2 November 1917; rejoined unit from detachment, 21 January 1918. On leave to United Kingdom, 7 March 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 27 March 1918. Wounded in action, 23 April 1918 (gassed), admitted to 18th Field Ambulance, and transferred to 62nd Casualty Clearing Station (and relinquished appointment of Acting Bombardier); transferred to Ambulance Train No 8, 24 April 1918, and admitted to 55th General Hospital, Boulogne, 25 April 1918.
