Embarked Wellington, 15 November 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 29 January 1917, and marched into Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 1 March 1917; joined 2nd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 2 June 1917, and posted to C Company.

Wounded in action, 7 June 1917 (gun shot wound, left foot and arm), and admitted to 9th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 9 June 1917; to No 3 Canadian General Hospital, 10 June 1917; to No 10 Convalescent Depot, 5 July 1917; to Base Depot, Etaples, 23 August 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 7 September 1917.

Killed in action, 12 October 1917.
