Military Medal 'At Flers on the 16th September and the two following days this NCO was in charge of the Regimental Stretcher Bearers. He showed resource in organising this work, and great bravery in collecting and attending to the wounded under heavy artillery fire. He worked continuously for twenty four hours after the action commenced in very exposed position, and by his devotion to duty saved the lives of many of the wounded and ensured their rapid removal from the danger zone. On previous occasions he has shown similar courage and resource.'
