Proceeded overseas to France, 4 October 1918; joined 1st Bn, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, in the field, 14 October 1918, and posted to A Company.

Wounded in action, 2 November 1918; remained with unit.

Wounded in action, 4 November 1918 (gun shot wound, right arm), and admitted to 19th Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, 7 November 1918; to England, 8 November 1918, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst; discharged to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 10 December 1918.
