Military Medal 'In the Noutillerie Sector, South West of Armentieres, on the 1st February he displayed great resource and gallantry in leading a fighting patrol of 14 Other ranks, into the enemy trenches, after a preliminary bombardment for 3 minutes by trench mortars, two prisoners were taken for purposes of identification, 10 to 12 of the enemy were killed, and the patrol suffered no casualties.'
