Military Medal 'At Messines on 7th June 1917, this N.C.O. was one of the 12 left in a platoon advancing against a large number of the enemy who had taken cover in shell holes. When his platoon Commander was wounded, this N.C.O. covered him and then rushed up a shot a party of 3 of the enemy. Later he gave his platoon Sergeant valuable help in organising the work of killing and driving the enemy from cover. He has done excellent work previously. He was wounded on 8th June 1917.'
