Detached to School of Instruction, Ismailia, 6 February 1916; rejoined unit from detachment, 26 February 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 6 April 1916. Found guilty, 19 June 1916, of when on Active Service (1) refusing to obey an order; (2) using improper language to an N.C.O.: deprived of 14 days' pay. Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 25 June 1916 (influenza); rejoined unit, 5 July 1916. Found guilty of drunkenness, 30 March 1917: deprived of 10 days' pay.
