Military Medal 'During the attack on the 5th April, these two men were employed as linesmen on the line between their battery position and the observation post The whole area was being subjected to a heavy bombardment and the wire was cut repeatedly. These two men both went through the barrage six times and repaired the wire. From 7am till about 8pm when communication was again permanently established these men were patrolling and repairing the line under heavy fire. Their coolness and devotion to duty have always been most marked, both on this and previous occasions and they have always set a splendid example to their comrades.'
