Military Medal ' For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on October 8th, near Crevecouer. In the early stages of the attack on the 6th October Corporal Cormack found himself in charge of two Platoons, his Officer and all senior N.C.O.'s having become casualties. He displayed great leadership during the remainder of the advance. At the final objective enemy Field Guns opened fire at point blank range on the troops digging in and eventually they had to retire. Reorganising the two Platoons, Corporal Cormack led them forward under cover of a Lewis Gun, and, in spite of heavy machine gun fire finally succeeded in establishing the line of outposts.'
