Military Medal 'On 7th June was in party laying cable from Cable Head to Brigade Forward Station near Messines, and subsequently maintained these lines till the Division were relieved on the evening of 9th June, during the whole of the time the area was under shell fire and the lines repeatedly cut. In spite of physical exhaustion he performed his work excellently, displaying courage and devotion. His work on
Artillery Lines during Somme fighting in September and October was specially good, but he has not been previously recommended.'
