'For conspicuous good work and coolness under fire while in Ypres Sector from 1st December 1917 to 20th March 1918. During this period Geary had charge of a Section employed on construction and maintenance of Light Railway from Wattle Dump to Crucifix Dump. By his coolness under fire he encouraged his men to do a maximum amount of work often under trying and difficult conditions.'
