During the hours of daylight on the morning of the 20th April 1918 in the neighbourhood of La Signy Farm, Lance Corporal Frew led a patrol to an enemy listening post; his skilful and daring leadership resulted in the capture of the enemy garrison of 5. In this work Lance-Corporal Frew displayed great courage and marked initiative, setting a splendid example to his men.'
