Mentioned in Despatches 'In Messines operations June 7th 1917 when Section Officer was killed in action, he gave the guns their bearings and elevations under heavy shell fire, and then carried water and ammunition. His cool conduct enabled the guns to continue action. His devotion to duty resulted in his own death.'
