Military Medal 'During the attack on the Messines Ridge on 7th June 1917. He was one of three Battalion Runners who kept up communication when all other means failed. Under
heavy shell fire all the time he carried out his work with splendid courage and never failed to deliver his messages under the most trying circumstances.'
