Military Medal 'Operations opposite Polderhoek 27th November to 5th December 1917. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On November 30th 1917 preparatory to the attack on Polderhoek Chateau, Private Miller was detailed as a Battalion
Observer to reconnoitre the route to the assembly position, and to report upon the nature of the ground between there and the objective of the assaulting troops: this work he carried out with great skill, and allowed no danger to prevent him
from obtaining the required information. Moreover, on the 3rd December, when the attack was held up by machine gun fire, Private Miller went forward to report upon the position, and by his gallant work as a sniper greatly assisted the troops
during their consolidation. Before dusk he returned to Battalion Headquarters with
comprehensive report on the position and strength of our left flank. Again at 7pm the same day, despite heavy machine guns and rifle fire he went out again and patrolled the whole of our front. All these services were willingly rendered under
very dangerous circumstances.'
