Wounded in action, 14 July 1916 (gun shot wound), and admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to 8th Casualty Clearing Station; to 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, 15 July 1916; to England, 17 July 1916, and admitted to 2nd London General Hospital, Chelsea; transferred to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 28 August 1916; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 21 October 1916; to 3rd Reserve Bn, Sling Camp, 15 January 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 1 March 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 21 May 1917.

Killed in action, 12 October 1917.
