'For long and valuable service. He has been with the Battalion Transport for four years with hardly any break, and lately has been Transport Sergeant. He has done continuous good work and has performed his duties in a most satisfactory manner. The work has been of the most arduous character and has frequently involved him in situations which have called for a display of leadership and initiative in which he has never been found wanting.'
