Meritorious Service Medal 'For good work and devotion to duty during the period from 23rd September 1917 to 24th February 1918. While in Ypres Sector this NCO has had charge of Sections repairing roads and digging communication trenches and although his party have been heavily shelled on many occasions he has always kept his men together and completed his task before leaving the job. His high sense of duty has been a great incentive to all the men in his platoon.'
