Wounded in action, 14 July 1916 (multiple gun shot wounds), and admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred by Ambulance Train same day to No 2 Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to No 35 General Hospital, Calais, 14 July 1916; to England, 16 July 1916, and admitted to 2nd London General Hospital, Chelsea, 17 July 1916; transferred to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 8 September 1916; discharged to Convalescent Camp, Hornchurch, 12 September 1916; taken on strength, NZ Command Depot, Codford, 16 October 1916.

Found guilty, 2 November 1916, of being absent without leave, 31 October-1 November 1916: forfeited 2 days' pay under Royal Warrant.

Transferred to 1st Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 19 July 1916.

Killed in action, 12 October 1917.
