Proceeded overseas to France, 6 July 1917; marched in to Base Depot, Etaples, 9 July 1917.

Joined 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 25 July 1917.

Admitted to NZ Stationary Hospital, Wisques, 12 November 1917 (diarrhoea); discharged to duty, and rejoined Bn, in the field, 4 December 1917.

Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 10 December 1917 (diarrhoea: suspected dysentery); transferred to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 22 December 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 26 December 1917.

Killed in action, 5 September 1918.
