Tried by District Court Martial, Zeitoun, 31 December 1914, on charges of (1) stealing public money; (2) stealing goods, the property of an officer; (3) when on Active Service deserting His Majesty's service: found guilty, sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment with hard labour and to be discharged with ignominy. Commenced return to New Zealand on board HT 'Tahiti', 5 January 1915, to undergo sentence of 18 months' imprisonment; discharged (character: 'very bad'), 6 May 1915. Not eligible for war medals. |
