the duties of his appointment has resulted in the salvage of an enormous quantity of material representing a saving to the public during the past three months alone of over one million pounds sterling. He and his party have performed their duties frequently under enemy shell fire in the forward areas, and in consequence his services are well worthy of recognition.'
