Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry in the field. In the attack east of St Julien on the 4th inst: this man exhibited splendid courage in his work as Company stretcher bearer. He worked unceasingly without sparing himself and without thought of his own safety
and materially assisted in getting the captured ground cleared of our wounded. His work was carried out at times under very heavy enemy fire but he nevertheless continued it with great coolness and perserverance. His work was of a very high
standard throughout.'
