Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the morning of 25th July 1918, in the Rossignol Wood Sector north of Hebuterne, when the enemy heavily bombarded the line we had taken from him the previous evening, Private Fraser was in a Lewis gun Section in an isolated post on our flank. When the post was
blown out by a shell, and the NCO killed, Private Fraser shifted the post to another position, and himself remained under very heavy shell fire to dig out one of his comrades who was completely buried. He then assisted the man, who was suffering from shell shock, to reach our trench.'
