Proceeded overseas to France, 6 June 1917; marched in to Base Depot, Etaples, 8 June 1917; joined 2nd Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, in the field, 26 June 1917.

Wounded in action, 9 August 1917; admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 10 August 1917; transferred same day to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station.

Died of wounds, 10 August 1917.
