Military Medal 'At Flers on the 17th September 1916. Throughout a very heavy bombardment of the 1st Battery this man behaved in a most gallant manner by throwing himself bodily across 2/2421 Gunner Gilchrist, who was lying on the ground wounded, in order to save him rom further injury from a shell which fell close by. Bombardier Adams has always been untiring in his duties as cook. Under heavy fire on many occasions he has never failed to supply the men of his battery with hot tea at any hour of the day. He has also won the gratitude of the wounded owing to his kindly actions.'
