Embarked Wellington, 16 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 29 December 1916, and marched into Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 11 February 1917; joined 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 3 June 1917.

Wounded in action, 7 June 1917 (gun shot wound, neck),and admitted to 77th Field Ambulance; transferred to 11th Casualty Clearing Station; to 55th General Hospital, Boulogne, 8 June 1917; to No 7 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 14 June 1917; discharged to No 3 Rest Camp, 21 June 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 25 July 1917.

Reported missing in action, 12 October 1917.

Court of Enquiry, 11 November 1917, concluded: 'Missing, believed killed.'
