Military Medal 'On the nights of the 5th and 6th June, 1917, he drove his car several times through a heavily gassed area along the Red Lodge Petit Pont Road when it was being heavily shelled by high explosive and gas shells. With the Wagon Orderly he took stretchers to the dug outs of the Battery at T.23 b, and carried cases through the gas bombardment to his car, and brought them safely to the Dressing Station. This driver has never delayed when calls have come from heavily shelled battery areas. With his wagon orderly he went and temporarily repaired the road during the heavy bombardment on the morning of the 7th June, and opened it up again for traffic.'
