Croix de Guerre (Belgium) 'For conspicuous gallantry and leadership. On August 25th 1917, during the operations near Grevillers when his Platoon Commander became a casualty Private
Farquhar took charge of his platoon and by conspicuous gallantry and leadership gained the objective ordered. Later on the same day he went through heavy shell fire to report his position to his Company Commander. Throughout the whole of
the operations his conduct was a magnificent example to his comrades.'
