Military Medal 'Action in front of Belle Vue Spur, west of Passchendaele, 12th October 1917 and following days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. As a stretcher bearer, this NCO displayed great devotion to duty during the whole of the above operation. For two days and nights he carried out wounded under exeptionally trying conditions and was instrumental in saving the lives of several of his comrades.'
