Mentioned in Depatches 'For devotion to duty and consistent good work as Quartermaster. Prior to, and during the operations at Messines on 7th and 8th June, 1917, he did very valuable work, personally supervising the delivery in the line of rations, engineering material and ammunition. He regularly visited his Battalion Headquarters, often at great risk, to ensure the smooth working of administrative arrangements.'
