Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack. After the first trench was taken, he rallied his men to meet a counter attack, which was repulsed. The enemy then began another counter attack, and, although slightly wounded, he led his men forward under very heavy rifle and machine gun fire, and drove the enemy back a second time.'
