Found guilty, 5 January 1915, of being insolent to a NCO: awarded 3 days' confined to barracks. Embarked Alexandria with unit to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 12 April 1915. Admitted to HT 'Southland', Dardanelles, 9 May 1915 (gunshot wounds, face, head and back); transferred to Egyptian Army Hospital, Cairo, 12 May 1915. Commenced return to New Zealand on board HT 'Willochra', 9 June 1915; disembarked New Zealand, 15 July 1915; discharged (no longer fit for active service), 22 December 1915.
