Mention in Despatches 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This non commissioned officer was in command of the Battalion runners during the battle of Messines on the 7th, 8th and 9th of June, and he carried out his duties in a most cheerful and exemplary manner. Immediately subsequent to the capture of objectives, amidst intense shelling, he personally located the Headquarters of Companies, and afterwards maintained communication.
