Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry in the field. East of St Julien during the advance of the 4th of October 1917 the N.C.O in charge of Corporal DeLuen's platoon was casualtied. Corporal DeLuen over at once and with it filled a gap in the left flank and captured an enemy machine gun which was firing from a prepared shell-hole position. He did this work at once and at great personal risk and although his platoon sufferred severely in accomplishing the task he kept the gap filled and arrived at our objective with survivors. In the work of the consolidation and afterwards he exhibited fine courage and leadership and his work throughout was of a very high order.'
