Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In the recent operations and throughout all the period spent in this Area this NCO has performed most valuable service in charge of the Battalion Runners. In the recent rapid advances he has organised his section and kept up regular communication with Companies working under very heavy shell and machine-gun fire. He has been of very great assistance
when accompanying officers for reconnaissance and his contempt of danger and cheerfulness under very adverse circumstances has been an inspiration to all his men.'
