Mentioned in Despatches 'This officer left New Zealand with the Main Body as a Corporal in 1914. He served right through the Gallipoli Campaign, where he received his Commission.
Throughout, the work of Lieutenant Daly has been excellent, and his coolness and courage under heavy fire has been a splendid example to the men under him. He was killed in action at the Somme on the 25th September 1916.'
