Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and cool and resourceful handling of 2 platoons. On 27th/28th March 1918 near Hebuterne. Two Officers having become casualties
Sergeant Cumming at once took charge of the platoons and, seeing that his flank was threatened, organised and led a vigorous attack which not only saved the flank but drove the enemy back in disorder, and inflicted severe casualties. His resourcefulness and daring was a fine example to his men.'
