Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations from 24th August to 1st September 1918 at Loupart Wood, Bapaume and Bancourt. This NCO throughout these operations displayed marked courage and ability in leading his section. In particular, on 30th August 1918, when his platoon commander became a casualty he immediately took command and with great coolness he reorganised
his platoon and personally superintended the consolidation of the position.'
