Military Medal

'For continuous gallantry and devotion to duty from 21st August to August 27th 1918. During the operations and up to the time of his evacuation on 27th August Sergeant Craig was in charge of a Platoon and showed marked leadership and skill. In particular at Miraumont on 23rd August, in the attack on the enemy?s positions at 2.30am he successfully led his platoon despite heavy machine gun fire to their objective and consolidated the position. On the same day in another attack he again led his platoon showing great skill in executing a pivoting movement of his left flank to reach the final objective. During this latter movement Sergeant Craig had to expose himself to direct machine and snipers? fire of which he showed utter disregard, so setting a magnificent example to his Platoon.'
