Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as a stretcher bearer at Briastre from 11th to 13th October 1918. He carried out his work under heavy shell and machine gun fire with tireless energy and an utter disregard for personal safety. His devotion to duty on this and other occasions has been the means of saving many wounded men's lives.'
