Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his platoon was held up in an attack by three machine guns firing from a "pillbox" he led a party to the attack and captured the position with twenty-five prisoners. Though wounded, he continued to lead his men to the final objective, setting them a splendid example of courage and gallantry.'
